What is EnduroKid UK all about?

ACU Youth Timecard Enduro - Saturday, August 5th, 2023

EnduroKid UK is an exciting new Timecard Enduro Championship for Youth riders ranging from 8 years of age to 18 years of age.

Based on the European model of Youth Enduro Riding and running under the main governing body for motorsport in this country - the ACU, the event will be both groundbreaking and innovative in this country with the primary focus being on bringing the sport of Timecard Enduros  to the younger generation of riders in the UK in a safe, enjoyable, relaxed environment.


Enduro Coaching

EnduroKid UK will also be bringing top level enduro coaching to Youth Riders of all ages with a primary focus on developing safe, correct riding technique which will form solid lifelong riding skills amongst our riders.

Technique comes first -  confidence and speed will follow later.

Based in West Wales, our 3 day Bootcamps will include intensive Enduro and Motocross Skills Coaching, as well as Mountain Biking, kayaking, and an evening at the Cinema for down time.

ENDUROKID-UK Brechfa Enduro

Announcement

Dyfed Dirt Bike Club will organise a Youth Time Card Enduro event to be held under the National Sporting Code of the ACU, the Standing Enduro Regulations and the following Supplementary Regulations and any Final Instructions that may be issued.

The event will be a round of the 2023 EnduroKid-UK Championship and the Under-19 Welsh Solo Enduro Championship.

The event will be covered by the ACU Basic Cover and details can be found on the ACU web page.

 

Eligibility

The EnduroKid-UK Brechfa Enduro is an ACU sanctioned event.

All riders must hold an ACU LICENCE issued by the ACU or SACU and have passed their 8th birthday.

Any other riders including Irish participants MUST obtain personal accident insurance, produce a licence issued by their FMN and start permission, confirming they are licensed and insured.

Event Start

OS 146 - Grid Ref SN514366

Brynllewelyn, Llanllwni, Pencader, Carmarthenshire. SA39 9ED.

Arrowed from the crossroads at New Inn on the A485 main road from Carmarthen to Lampeter. Event will commence at 10:00am

 

Course

The route is approximately 12 miles in length, with a variety of mixed going including woodland and open moor land.

The entire course of the event will be on private land.

The course will be a loop, the start and finish of which is based at the Event Start/Parking Area.

There will be one designated Fuel point which will be within the start area.

The loop will be made up of a liaison section and a special test section with one Time Control (Check) per lap. The Time control will be placed at the Event Start/Finish.

 

Official Rider Marshals will be in charge of helping and guiding the pilots around the route and any Technical Sections of track will be overcome by all the riders in a group before the group will continue on their loop.

Detours will be provided for the younger riders to avoid the most difficult sections of the track.

 

At the end of the lap, the pilot must respect the rest times as indicated in the Supplementary Regulations.

 

Rest Periods

Depending on the race categories, rest periods will be granted for the riders at the end of each lap.

After having travelled the liaison section, riders will be able to take a short rest period in the waiting zone before setting off on the Special test.

As soon as riders leave the special test, they will return to the Start/Parking Area to refuel. They will then have a rest period of between 30 minutes to 50 minutes (depending on the category) before leaving for their next loop of the course.

 

Event Timing

All timing for the event will be carried out by Alistair Spowart. Check Time Controls will be digitally timed and Timing for the special test will be electronic to 1/1000th of a second.

Test times will be relayed via digital display at Event HQ (Start/Finish area).

 

Special Tests

The special test is near the Start/Parking Area and can be viewed by riders on foot only from 1pm on the day before the event.

The Test will be fully marked on natural grassy terrain, and will be between 3 and 10

Minutes in length.

The level of difficulty of the motocross type test will be easily circumventable for all riders.

Number of tests to be ridden by each category will be declared at Signing-on.

 

Special Test Waiting Area:

A waiting zone will be marked out for riders as they arrive at the special test. It will allow for all riders to have the necessary rest before riding the test. Mechanics/Parents are allowed in this waiting zone during the rest time allocated to the rider’s category.

Once this zone has been passed, neither the parents nor the accompanying persons can intervene. The rider then enters the start of the special test.

Penalties:

-         Penalty for non-compliance with instructions: 1 minute.

-         Penalty for not showing up on time at the Control: 60 seconds per minute late

-         Resumption of a special test due to breakage or other: 1 minute.

-         Outside help: 1 minute penalty (except in the event of a breakdown).

 

Machines

The imposed displacements are 65 cc 2T, 85 cc 2T, 125 cc 2T, 150 cc 2T and 150cc 4T maximum, fitted with a gearbox (displacements to manufacturer standards).

The motorcycle must be clean when presented to Technical Control.

 

Tyres

Tyres can be of riders choice.

 

Cameras

Helmet cameras and cameras attached to the body are prohibited unless the helmet is manufactured with the camera as an intrinsic part. Cameras attached to the machine are permitted.

 

Event Entry

Entry fees is set at £55

The maximum number of entries is set at 180 drivers.

One day ACU licences will be available on the day at the cost of £10.00

ADMINISTRATIVE AND TECHNICAL CHECKS (Machine Examination)

Administrative and technical checks will take place the day before the event between 5pm and 8pm, and on race day between 8pm and 9pm.

The rider can present only one machine to the technical control.

The machines presented must be of the relevant cubic capacity for the declared race category, be the original chassis (frame and swing arm) and have wheels corresponding to the original diameter. 

 

At Technical Control the Scrutineers will mainly check:

- the presence of the gearbox output sprocket protection,

- the presence of the tips of the handles and the handlebars,

- the presence of handlebar foam,

- the sound level

- the levers (they must not be broken),

- the circuit breaker in working order,

 

Any rider who has not passed the administrative and technical checks on the timetables

scheduled will be refused a start by the Clerk of the Course.

 

N.B. Each rider must carry a spare spark plug and a spark plug wrench with him so as not to penalize the riding group.

 

CLASSES / CATEGORIES

The class categories for this event are as follows:

Ø Boys

o  Mini 65cc (from 8 to 11 years old)

(65cc maximum with mechanical gearbox)

Minimum age: be 8 years old the day before the event

​​Maximum age: not be 11 years old on January 1st.

 

o  Junior 85cc (up to 12 years old)

85 cc (Small Wheel) 2T maximum or 150cc 4T maximum

Minimum age: be 8 the day before the event

Maximum age: not be 13 on 1 January.

 

o  Senior 85cc (up to 15 years old)

85cc (Big Wheel) 2T maximum or 150cc 4T maximum

Maximum age: not be 16 on 1 January.

 

o  Expert 125cc/150cc (up to 16 years old)

150cc 2T maximum or 150cc 4T maximum

Maximum age: not be 17 on 1 January.

 

o  ACU Welsh Under-19 Enduro Championship

150cc 2T maximum

For Riders registered to the ACU Welsh Under-19 Enduro Championship

 

 

Ø Girls

o  Mini 65cc (from 8 to 11 years old)

(65cc maximum with mechanical gearbox)

Minimum age: be 8 years old the day before the event

o  Expert 125cc/150cc (up to 17 years old)

150cc 2T maximum or 150cc 4T maximum

Maximum age: not be 18 on 1 January.

 

 

RACE NUMBERS AND NUMBER PLATE BACKGROUNDS

All riders will be provided with Race Numbers and Backgrounds at ‘Signing-On’ courtesy of

P3-SOLUTIONS:

- Mini 65cc: blue plate, white number,

- Junior 85cc: black plate, white number

- Senior 85cc: yellow plate, black number,

- Expert 125cc/150cc: green plate, white number,

- Welsh Under-19: Red Plate, white number,

 

- Girls Mini 65cc: Pink plate, black number.

- Girls Junior 85cc: Purple plate, white number.

- Girls Senior 85cc: Sky Blue plate, Black number.

- Girls Expert 125cc/150cc: White plate, Black number,

 

RANKINGS

There will be a race classification by category. The classification is established by adding together the times of the special tests and the course penalties.

The driver with the shortest time is declared the winner of his category.

 

AWARDS

Awards will be presented to the top 3 riders in each category and the title of 2023 EnduroKid-UK Champion will be awarded to the winning rider in each category.

 

RIDER PROTECTION

Motorcycle helmets bearing a valid ACU gold or silver stamp and correctly fitted, must be worn by all competitors.

Riders must be equipped with:

- a pair of motorcycle boots, in leather or synthetic materials (approved),

- a pair of gloves

- reinforced trousers,

- clothing made of resistant material that covers the arms.

The use of “Tear Off” lenses on goggles is prohibited.

The use of “Roll Off” goggle systems where the transparent plastic film is retained within the device and not discarded is allowed.

 

Any rider presenting non-compliant equipment will be refused a start by the Clerk of the Course.

Helmets, back and chest protectors must fit the rider and be of the required safety standard as directed by the ACU Standing Regulations.

 

DEPARTURE PROCEDURE

The pilots will leave in groups of 16 maximum according to the start schedule of the race provided by the club.

Riders must be present at the parc fermé at 9:30 a.m. on the morning of the race.

Riders will position themselves in the starting area 1 minute before their start time, engine off.

At the starting signal, riders will have 1 minute to start their machine. Beyond that, they will have to leave the area by pushing their machine in the direction of the track. The presence of parents is not permitted in the start area.

If a driver starts late, he will be penalized 60 seconds per minute late.

If a driver does not start at the set time with the engine running within his minute, he will be penalized of 10 seconds.

 

OFFICIAL RIDER MARSHALLS

On the liaison sections Official Rider Marshalls will supervise each group of 16 riders maximum in the Mini and Junior categories, in order to ensure their safety (at least one rider at the front and at least one rider behind).

The Senior and Expert categories will leave in groups of 3 or 4 every minute. At least 4 marshals swill be provided for these two categories.

Each group will be led by a chief rider marshal who will be in contact with Event Officials at HQ via radio link.

 

COMPLAINTS

It is noted that the right of complaint, in the amount of £50, must be deposited with the

Race director within half an hour following the posting of the event results (when it comes to

complaints relating to classifications) and that it must be accompanied, when it supposes a dismantling of the motor, an additional deposit of £50.

This sum will be reimbursed if the complaint is recognized as justified. Otherwise, it will be

sent to the ACU with the closing report.

For dealing with complaints, a Jury will be formed. It will be composed of:

- Voting members:

- ACU Delegate

- Club Steward

- Center Steward

-  Race Director

- the person in charge of technical control,

- the timekeeper,

- any other person authorized by the Jury.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL RULES

The pilots must respect the environmental rules put in place by the organizer.

It is compulsory to use an environmental mat which must consist of a waterproof sole and

of absorbent textile and whose minimum dimensions are 2 m x 1 m.

Penalties:

  • Non-use of the environmental mat: 1 minute
  • Tear-offs are prohibited. In case of use, the driver will be disqualified. Roll-offs are allowed.
  • Throughout the duration of the event, the cleaning of the motorcycles with pressurized water (water jets, high pressure cleaner, …) is strictly prohibited.
  • Any noise in the paddock after 10.30 p.m. is prohibited.
  • Sanction:

- 1st offence: warning

- 2nd offence: penalty which may go as far as the exclusion of the driver

 

Results

The results will be displayed, signed by the Clerk of the Course (or appointed official) with the time of day, on the ENDUROKID-UK website https://www.endurokid-uk.com within 1 hour of event finish. Presentation of Awards will be held at Event HQ approximately 1.5 hours after last rider finishes.

Any protest must be submitted within 14 days.
